It is weird that no one thought to consider whether the growth was sustainable.

I am not an analyst but my first consideration would be that the growth in recent years is not natural. Due to the pandemic, people are more reliant on home entertainment.

Beforehand, their expectations were managed so they were not looking to seriously compete with outdoor activities and what not. If they want their growth rate to continue, they are going to have to come up with a way of making Netflix the preferred option of going out and socialising.

Ironically, putting up restrictions on account sharing isn't the sensible thing to do. It wouldn't stop the gap, but they might want to consider allowing people to set virtual meetings with their service.

HBOMAX got new movies in theaters on their platform,

AMC has it's own streaming service, everybody has their own streaming service

It's going to get the point when each project is going to have it's own app, where you have to pay to have access to it

Snoop Dog took death row music off spotify and putting it all on a death row app, so if you want to hear death row music you have to download the death row app and pay to access it

Netflix was a good idea decade ago, it's old and has outlived its purpose, they already lost

People just share passwords, add in theft from hackers, who either use stolen credit cards to make accounts or hack netflix itself and just make free accounts to sell, it's at the point where most people who use don't even pay for it

basically, the technology can be commoditized where almost anyone can create an app and distribute their own content. Right now it's easier to get your own video or music streaming services started from a technology standpoint but i can see the same thing happening with social media sometime in the future.
