It was a Warner Bros. production. Sony TV owns the distribution. Sony sells the TV/streaming rights and part of that goes to WB, Jerry and Larry David.

NBC didn't own a stake.

Yeah NBC has it's own produced content but back in those days they didn't foresee how everything would turn to streaming, they didn't know what the internet really was back then. So it was nothing to farm out ideas to production companies or air other produced shows on your station. All they cared about was the ad revenue.

Now when you go on something like Netflix you'll see the "N" in the corner or their logo at the start of a program and it let you know they own the shyt.
