Nash doesn’t seem to be the coaching type at all, especially for this team.

Yeah I'm not sure if he's a real Xs and Os guy, and you develop and learn that by being in real situations.

This hiring might mean that Kyrie and KD don't want a real coach with a real system, they just want someone who'll say the right things and give advice here and there.

Man is he using the white privilege thing?

I could have sworn two or three days ago he said Pop should be the nets coach

pop is a legendary coach

He can be taken over ty lue and Jacque Vaughn any day :mjlol:

he’s saying it’s white privilege because he has no background, experience, and to this point nobody even knew he wanted the job

The Kidd experiment was a failure so I’d rather not use that as a reference point. My brain isn’t fully functional yet but isn’t Steve Kerr the only success story with 0 coaching experience?

Tbh I think it’s insulting to ask Vaughn to be an assistant to Nash after the work he just put in.

Steve Kerr also had the benefit of using Mark Jackson as a reference point and built upon what he started. He took the run in transition + defense philosophy, turned it into a motion half court system and took the ball out of Steph's hands.

Steve Nash has no reference point to work with, he just has to make it work. It's gonna be weird.

I get the :mjpls:of this but if this is truly about people management, then I understand it 100%. KD and Kyrie are personalities that are large in that locker room. Someone needs to be able to manage it. Vaughn may have the X's and O's down pat but if the communication skills aren't up to par, let him get a bit more seasoning. I liken this to my own supervisor, her skills to do the job are out of this world but she isn't the greatest of communicators so sometimes, we go in circles about things, wasting time or working off of misunderstood initiatives. I get the feeling that this is the case here. It is an out of the blue hiring but I'm not going to write it off just yet.
