Been trying to network alot this year, trying be productive but i feel like some people are making it harder than it should be

example, i reached out to someone i use to look up too in the events world, said he should bring back some old events he use to do back in the days, i said if you need a video guy holla at me, he said yeah, called me up with all these ideas and i thought to myself thus should be great, i'll be fully on point, so on the day we're ment to met up this fool didnt call me up with the directions to this new event he was doing, but he told me what it was called so i jst mapped it myself and found the place wasnt to far from me, i get there and wait 10mins to see if anyone turns up, i turn around the corner cause i said fuk this let me go find somewhere to eat if he needs me he will call, funny enough i see dude in the car smoking :jbhmm:, so i dap him and say lets get started

so i video this shyt for him. after finishing up the vid i asked for his password cause the shyt would take to long to send, the guy tells me he dont know his own youtube passed :skip: so im like ite how u want it then? tells me to just send it, kool, i wait a few hours uploading then send the shyt to him.

he puts it up a few days after but doesnt say thank you or give me credit (not that i care, my shyt looks good but still:patrice:)

after a few weeks ive been doing a couple things here n there for him but shyt doesnt seem to be clicking, all the ideas he had we havnt discussed it again, so im just like:manny: if u aint serious and want to build up your brand then forget it why should i be running around.

this is just one example, i have another.

i met this old DJ that i knew of and we got to talking about a lot of stuff then he asked me if i could do some logo's for him, i said yeah sure i'll email you and we can take it from there, now i told him i would design for him for free cause i had some respect for him, i sent a few emails and he didnt reply back:patrice: i saw him the week after and said whats up u good , u get my email about the design info? he said yeah i'll talk to u about it in an hour, so im like kool no problem, a few hours pass, i fall asleep (we at some club) i wake up around 4am and he's just sitting down smoking weed looking like a zombie, so i wait to see if he will speak up, he doesnt, we leave and go our separate ways.

im not gonna lie brehs, this networking shyt is abit funky:dwillhuh:

can i not network and link up with some like minded minds? feels like some people aint cut out for this shyt and want to stay at the bottom, i dunno, i don think its me cause im actually out here extending my arm out

tl;dr some people dont know how to network

feel free to share your stories

i know but its like damn these fool's got some talent but they dont want to do shyt, im trying to climb the ladder

@The Nigerian i need some advice
Focus on making money and the connections will follow. Again, focus on making money. Make it a habit of asking for cash up front. Even if it's only a little bit of money. People value what they pay for.

Always remember to execute to the best of your ability. Keep your word. If people flake, just understand that life happens.

Oh, and try not to burn bridges. But if you do, build new ones.

Don't gossip. Gossip is bad. Ear hustle your ass off tho.

Oh, and try to have a focus to your networking. Find a person that is where you want to be and make them your mentor. Study them. Study their social circle. These days people have their social networks on Facebook and LinkedIn. Use these sites to blueprint a chart from you to your target.

Welcome to the real world. :pachaha:I'm always :mjlol: when people say just network as if it's as easy as saying it. Truth is, in the real world, to network and have something meaningful come of it, you first need to prove yourself to be useful. People with the ability to make moves aren't out here looking to make connections just because.
