Never Forget is a thread series where you and I - your host, Taadow - revisit some hits we may have stored in the attic of our minds. Today, Craig Mack - "Get Down".
"B-B-BUT WAS IT REALLY A HIT??"
Billboard Hot 100 Peak: #38
Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Peak: #17
Billboard Hot Rap Singles: #2
Billboard Hot Dance Maxi Singles Sales Peak: #2
AFTERMATH:
You can't call Craig Mack a one-hit wonder in good conscience, he has two hits.
And really, the "Flavor In Ya Ear" Remix was on this single so that had a hand in
why this sold so much.
There was a thread on here once when somebody (probably young) asked incredulously:
"what did you 'real hip-hop' niccas used to listen to at the club, Mobb Deep?"
Yeah, and chit like this. This is what used to be a hardcore rap single.
And furthermore, this helped keep the lights on at Bad Boy before B.I.G. really popped off.
For a minute after this, folks was saying "can I get dowwwwn, get on down - time to get down"
in they songs as a warm up, or on the radio shows before they would kick a freestyle or whatever.
