Crazy to think they've been underground legends for like 30 years now. I wouldnt say I listen to tons of their music but I check in every few years. Gave this new project a run this morning, REALLY good music. Production is great.

Effortless is my favorite here obviously due to Ev.

I really hate that I don't like Atmosphere more. They clearly are immensely talented and when I listen to their music I can tell it's crafted with a lot of skill, effort, and attention.

It just sounds a little too "white" for my taste, for lack of a better word. I think a lot of it is how much Slug enunciates and pronounces his words when he raps.

I also massively respect what they've done to help support underground artists through their label, and Slug seems like a good dude. Ant is an underrated producer too.

I just rarely find myself wanting to play their music unless they're working with other rappers I like more.

Haven't checked for them since they turned alt-rock emo sounding in the late 2000s.

Not a fan of the Atmosphere as a band era either but Southsiders was a great return to form album front to back and, while they've been inconsistent after, some of these most recent releases have been the strongest of that latter period. (Still have yet to check this new one.)

I have a firm no white rappers policy(with the exception of early Em because I liked it as a kid, and LUM because i didnt know he was white when MTI came out) but I've been hearing so much love for that god loves ugly project i might actually listen to it

Early 2010s (Family Sign era) they brought on a keyboardist & guitarist as full band members for studio recording and touring and, while the efforts weren't awful, every song sounded very similar. They might be fine as a cut in the middle of a standard Atmos album, but it drags as a whole project, especially when you're used to hearing Slug over Ant beats pulled from all different kind of samples.

Slug's mixed. He's just not all Logic about it.

I can't imagine living in a world so narrow I'm not going to listen to a music artist due to what skin color they are :gucci:
