The trolling is ridiculous here. There's hardly a discussion about games that don't eventually end up being like 2 kids throwing toys at each other. It's the biggest reason why I hardly post in the arcadium anymore.

Again with this bullshyt. This is probably the least moderated forum in all of the coli because the trolling has been out of control for years. I sticky threads that are funny...you guys for years have wanted trolling more than opposed to it. The examples are plenty, calls for "freeing members", mad when posts are moved or merged and other general nonsensical bs that comes up in the reports notifications.
In fact, the reason I didn't want this forum to split is because I KNEW this forum would turn into this state that it is in without the film discussions. I was 100% right when others thought I was out of my mind.
I ask for Courtdog to get banned and I'm called a PlayStation Stan. I ask for DBoy to get banned and I'm an XBOT.
I am all for strict moderation, this forum has needed it for at least 2 years now.
The past 10 years on this forum has seen these cycles:
XBOX 360 vs PS3
Android vs iPhone (this lasted for a long time on SOHH)
PS4 vs XBOX ONE right now
This isn't unique, it's just that we no longer have film discussions to drown out some of the bullshyt. That's why it seems worse than it ever has been.

there's very little reasonable discussion on gaming, discussions deteriorate into ps4 vs xb1 pretty quickly
@Rekkapryde and @MeachTheMonster are as accountable as anyone. rekk just has poster of the year because coli is on the side of ps4.

but because you guys are regulars and know each other you don't take the discussions serious and its like your talking to a friend, you just talk shyt, i get it
its just having fun to troll each other, but it really does ruin the discussion in potentially good threads

and you know who im talking to, not just rekk and meach, theres about 8-10 posters who are all up in every thread doing it

I mainly responded to reports, didn't venture into many eventual fanboy war threads because I'd play games and discuss them rather than bullshyt
Plus, I pretty much listened to the community before. Spoilers, racism, valid complaints...we took care of those as soon as we could.
I literally went through and deleted dozens of posts when trolls would spam threads, but not be able to get banned immediately. I'm confident that even when I neglected my own gaming habits, I didn't completely neglect this forum.
We probably had more bogus reports over PMs than the fanboy stuff...it bothers people, but not enough to report, apparently.
And I quoted you because I agree and disagree. @Rekkapryde definitely still has pompoms, and weaves back and forth between mature and childish...but shyt, I can't say I'm much better.
Ten years ago, it was xbox 360 and PS3. I participated in the fanboy wars then. I'm no better than anybody on here...
...I also knew it was a lot of fun...but mostly just for us, I'm sure. I realized that, and eased up, after being called an Xbot for a while. Still, I'd been inside and outside "the wars," so I can understand a good amount of either argument's points.
That's also why I never asked for anyone to be banned over simple shyt. Ever. Courtney got too close to the sun for a while with spamming junk threads, and most recently, I absolutely advocated for dboy's justified ban...but if it wasn't a plain as day case, I wasn't going to waste anyone else's time having to explain to cook and brook how a DRM reference was trolling
So I do take my share of the blame for the decline, because obviously I should have did more...but I regret nothing, because I moderated how I wanted to: hands off, supportive of the community, and respectful of the responsibility.
If we're gonna be cracking down on PS4 vs Xbox, can we crack down on people who come into PC threads to post about "PC virgins" and people who come into Nintendo threads just to shyt on Nintendo when they have no intention of discussing the games or copping a Wii U?
The point is, its all trolling, you don't get to pick what's funny or what's "shyt".

The problem isn't the console wars. Dboy already is on vacation, Court can't make threads.
The problem is that cats will make a decent thread and then someone calls out an "opposing" console cats and it goes to shyt. Cats steady taggin me in shyt for sure. I know I've been guilty sometimes, but it's no where near as much as others. You got cats stanning shyt when they don't even play their damn console for crying out loud. I commish and co-commish multiple leagues in here and we keep this forum poppin.
Only way to "fix" shyt IMO is to heavily moderate some of these threads to kick the cats that are trying to start shyt out of em.

Just because it's funny doesn't mean I want it here, I mod and stick threads that I think most members will enjoy. This is the point I've tried to put across to you for a while now. I've tried to curb it for years by trying to keep the forum neat with 2-3 threads with games that most people are playing to focus on the gaming side of things. This usually lets the other bs threads sink to page 2+ because people are focused on batman, witcher, or whatever else is hot.
I've tried that approach before, people start crying. I am glad we are all in agreement here so I will start heavily moderating the forum tomorrow.
At least now @cook will have a heads up beforehand.
