depends I usually chop a sample and that dictates the direction of the melody

then ill lay the drums I think sound good.

Sometimes though Ill just change the tempo of already done drums to hear the effect, start puttin a sample over it then make changes to the drums after

I pretty much took the same drums from that beat just now and played this over it, then switched the drums a little to fit different areas.

Sometimes I make beats without samples, but I love choppin it into like 70 pieces and making something way off with it. That's my fav part of makin beats prolly.

Lots of times if there's no vocal in the sample it's tough to tell where I got it. This one has a couple distinguishable words though

Working on this beat tape with mostly original shyt and I need some new sounds..

I mostly just use the sample I chop, the ES2 synth in Logic and the EXS24 sampler in Logic, with mainly the built in sounds. Just use Waves to alter the sounds, add distortion, EQ, compress etc.

Switchin up the style a little on this just fukkin with diff samples
