They have all the game rights

They are fine. Even though they over paid for the NBA and CFB playoffs and MNF
That's the problem, with their current business model they will always "overpay" to get what they want with a diminishing base that still wants to consume TV content this way.

Nah, this isn't going to work. I'll pay for the NBA/MLB and watch WHATEVER game I want. Blackouts be damned, as slow as MLB was to accept online platforms like YouTube they are showing how to get it done with their MLB.TV package. That shyt has been on point for 15 years already and can't imagine ever going through a season without it tbh.

They even have the option to bypass blackouts now breh, the traditional cable model has been holding on for dear life to try and squeeze every last dollar they can.

The main reason people take cable packages is for sports...remove sports and no one will be opting for cable since there is hulu, HBO GO, Netflix and Amazon Prime for streaming TV shows
Right... that's the only reason I haven't gone completely to streaming services. I need reliability for sports viewing.

Everything's going online so they can increase the price of going over your cap. These companies are not slick

Yup ...Cord cutting is ultimately a zero sum game... The cable companies are all mostly internet providers too... Independent content providers may take a hit, but big Telecom will be fine... Consumers will end up not really saving shyt

Yes indeed, and it's funny that most ppl don't even realize it. It's why the ppl that are pushing for 'digital only' is so confusing to me. How are you not seeing the fact that these companies WILL get their money one way or another. They're slow, but they always come around in the end, and we'll always pay the price.

Just like cell phone companies said fukk it and started doing unlimited talk and text like it was nothing, and jacked up data prices...

The cable companies are gonna do the same thing as the money is in being an ISP because no matter what kinda cord cutting you can't go without the internet.

The prospect of cable companies proceeding without sports must put a scare into ESPN and every other sports channel. Sports networks have benefitted from the cable bundle as much as anyone, reaping huge subscriber fees from viewers who’ve never watched a football game in their lives. A package that allows non-sports fans to bypass ESPN et al. would be a big blow.

It's the chickens coming home, IMO
