My friend has the game for ps4 and i played it, its good but need to learn how to play

my thoughts

- not everyone can charge for more power, which is stupid so u have to wait to do some moves

- the z fighter saga skins are annoying, if you pick sayain saga goku, u cant trans form into ssj mid battle, which is kinda crap

This isn't a traditional fighting game. It's just like Battle of Z from the looks of it but more robust.

Didn't have much time to play. Haven't played a DBZ game since I had to import a game and use Gameshark to start it on PS1.

Hands on thoughts though:
. I played the first two story missions and one parallel quest, so this was extremely limited play, but I got to know the fighting engine a bit. It's action RPG/Fighting hybrid, but it works.

. The fighting is pretty simplistic. I had the weak and strong attack combo's down pretty quickly. Blocking at this early stage was damn near unnecessary. I pretty much don't use the basic ki-blast move because I save the energy for speed bursts and specials but I'm inexperienced so that could change. The special moves work similar to action rpg's like Dragon Age, you map a special to a button and then all you have to do is hold down the right trigger and hit that button to activate. In the early run, I'd say I did 70% of my work with basic physical attacks and 25% with specials while all of 5% was used for projectiles. I hope that balances out more as I have to strategize for challenges.

. Character creation initially is pretty simple but there are a lot of options to customize your costume, move set and attributes. For people who like RPG elements, that's where this game will likely shine.

. The lock-on system makes multi-character battles work well. I fought a gang of saibamen and while there were some hiccups with me being unable to see ki-attacks coming, it was pretty smooth. I also had a mission where I was working with Piccolo and Goku on one opponent (Raditz) and that ish was fun as hell even though it was hella easy.

. It's probably more for show fans than fighting fans that don't know the show. If I didn't know the characters, the fighting system might be too simplistic and the customizables could be overwhelming. But as a fan, when I got a scouter and used it to check power levels of different characters...I geeked out. I ran around the hub world for a while just exploring the Mr. Satan statues and item menus. It was dope.

. Complaints...the tutorials aren't great for a newcomer. I haven't played much but I really don't know how to use the X button effectively at all (it lets you warp behind your opponent) and I've landed one super special (your most powerful attack) after a good amount of opponents put down. That's not so bad though, trial and error has gotten me plenty of tricks. The only other issue is that in the heat of a fight, the camera can throw you off. You can move it with the right analog but when you're fighting more than one enemy, it gets tough.

. Postives...plenty of options to build your character, story is different even while you replay familiar scenarios that keep the nostalgia factor, graphics are great and the fighting system is simple to pick up but seems to have nuance that I'll have to spend time mastering. Lastly, the RPG elements are great and I'm an RPG head.

Closer...I'll need a week rocking this to have a more complete comment on it. In a limited view though, this joint is great. I'm eager to get out of work and finish my daily business so that I can get back into the DBZ world. As someone who only played 2d pure fighting DBZ in the past, this is a huge step up and really engrossing.

I agree with your write up. ESPECIALLY the camera.

As for X, you can use it as a defensive or offensive teleport.

You can also do chain teleport (not involving x) if you complete a simple square x5 combo and knock your oponent away. As he flies away just hit square again.

I just realized the game had throws In it. (l1 + square)

And timed counters (block.at the right time and you knock your oponent off balance)

So it's a lil deeper than I thought playing the Japanese version.

This game is cool. I like the parallel quest and shyt, but i was getting my ass kicked against nappa and vegeta. I need to learn to how to use items to heal myself. When nappa healed himself i was like :camby: and got my ass kicked. When i got to vegeta i did not have enough power to beat him. SMH

Cop capsules from the item shop and equip them in the customize menu. You can equip one size button to each face button.

In battle, I press one of the d pad buttons and it will bring up your equipped capsules.
