Of course the ATL
they always say that shyt with these stadium/arena developments. what do the counties/cities do with hotel tax that the out of towners pay? if they divert those funds to a stadium isn't something else losing out? is that something else beneficial to the taxpayers of that city?

Good question. The tax is used primarily for the Dome & other facilities operated by the Georgia World Congress Center Authority (they own & operate the Georgia Dome). It is also used to promote tourism & conventions ( including the Georgia World Congress Center which is also owned & operated by the GWCCA and next door to the Dome).

Sports nuts (fans) always wanna give money to their lords and saviors (owners).

Personally i think the current stadium is ugly but the biggest problem is its location. Dont know who were the idiots that placed it there in the first place. The sh!t currently serves as the watch tower at the border between the hood and downtown Atlanta.

They need to overtake that hood area west of the stadium, period.

Most arenas or stadiums I've been to in major cities are in sketchy parts of town. Or at least the ones that have been aroudn for a little whie.

No dummy. Tho I didnt say anything about BUILDING now that you broought it up i think it might be easier to build too. But to reiterate my point.

  • Structure #1 needs additional empty space around it for when the top opens up
  • Structure #2, only the top part moves when opens. No other parts move and it doesnt go beyond the perimeter of the closed state

From what we know about mechanical engineering, the less moving parts the easier it is to maintain.

Now tell me again which one you think would be easier maintain ad operate?

Watch the name calling you sensitive f@ggot. :beli:

The 2nd one has a roof that fans open. Neither is getting built was my point. Like the first Barclays design.

It's funny b/c they're reviving certain parts of the Westside (West Midtown for example from driving away from the city on Marietta St to Howell Mill Rd before you hit 75), but historical areas like Vine City, West End, shyt even Castleberry Hills get no money to revamp those communities. If they truly do commit money to Vine City & the areas around there this could be a good look. It's a shame that a Papa Johns is the biggest thing sitting across from the Dome for several miles on Northside or MLK
