I just moved to a new city and I want to join a gym but here's my dilemma. I want to make sure i got a few paychecks and everything under my belt before adding a new expense so it'll be around January before I join. As we all know that's when the revolutioners join gyms.
Are the fees usually cheaper or more expensive during that time?
or should I wait even longer when the crowd dies down to avoid a super busy gym?

You'll usually find much better rates or they'll do things like waive the enrollment or initiation fee. I'd go ahead and join the gym and just try to go during off peak hours, like earlier in the morning or later in the evening. Even in January, I would never find resolutioners in the gym training at those times; in my experience, they're always in there after work.

Exactly... they only go when its most convenient....

I imagine deals would be better off season as there's less fresh meat and more room to negotiate. Revolutioners are clueless about everything gym related including shopping around.

24 hour fitness in my hood has a no fees until jan going right now, then 21 dollars. My wife just got on my account with that deal. Not sure if that's only because I was a member.
