Something to be aware of is that Jersey and Philly are not New York, Jersey has always been a funk city, Khayree makes fonky beats, it tracks.
I remember being:mindblown: when Jersey people talked about bumping House/Freestyle(think Stevie B)when it was a Staple here in SoCal and it 'made sense' at least to me(NY did have Studio54)

Soundtracks used to be so epic, they often outshined the movie. Juice, Menace, New Jersey Drive, High School High, Poetic Justice, Above the Rim, Sunset Park, CB4, Friday, Tales From The Hood, Rhyme & Reason, The Show, Soul In The Hole, Bulworth, Caught Up, Murder Was The Case, Original Gangsters, Ride, Don't Be A Menace, Belly. It's crazy how many classic songs came out of soundtracks.
some soundtracks were better than the movie too

i never forget when the soul food sdtrk dropped.. n that outkast jus randomly came from the living room.. had to stop what i was doin n see what the hell my mom was listening to because she ran it back 3 times..kuz of cee lo..

Word, I remember discovering the non hip hop scenes (house, go go e6c) that cities like Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, DC etc had and being kinda shocked. I used to spend most of my summers in Detroit and when I got to be like 14, 15, 16 and started tagging along with my older cousins to parties and after hour spots I seen a whole nother musical side of what I knew of Detroit...that said I still called all that shyt "techno" until i was damn near 20.

I keep trying to tell yall yall have a bad misconception about what we played in NYC. lol. If it was dope we played shyt from everywhere.
I think the hate is more towards the NY media, not civilians

Benz or Beamer is a slept on All Time Great video … on top of being the definitive Bankhead Bounce video it’s the dopest on screen depiction of the (actual?) Dungeon that I can recall…one of my favorite Hype joints
