I thought this story sounded familiar.

Why Korean author Cindy Wilson, who was raised in the US, feels ‘culturally black’

Yeah I've heard about her before just totally forgot. Keke Palmer basically said I'll ride the Sinners wave which is cool but bad optics.

Truthfully this is an amazing story, but the execution of the Netflix show leaves a lot to be desired. They could’ve done WAY better.

It just looks too stereotypical

her name's nakia stephens and she doesn't look particularly biracial.

not saying it's not possible, but at that time on socials myspace/twitter a lot of birds used to claim they were such and such because they thought it made them "exoticals". i wouldn't be surprised if this was just a random bird with an asian fixation (as shown by her now deleted twitter posts)

i've not watched this show myself, so i don't know what's particularly inflammatory about it, but the trailer made it look like them "outcast in the black community/culture because i'm not black, but wins them over in the end" type of media that used to be made in the early/mid 00's - think: "Save The Last Dance", "8 Mile", "Honey", "Step-up"

leave them shyts back then :hubie:

I remember when the Theo the DJ (105.9 The Beat) came down from the Bay Area and had all the black women swooning over his voice + they were shocked to find out that he was Asian
