They'll probably like him. Dude is African and very conservative. A lot of the hardliners didn't like Francis because of the progressive reforms he instituted, especially in regards to LGBT. He's also against migration to Europe.

Yeah conservative Catholics are behind a lot of the fukkery in the country currently (and I saw this as a Catholic). But the symbolism of the Church is strong. You had people pissed when John Paul II became Pope because he wasn't Italian---who the Popes had been for like 400 years up till then.

I dunno, if they went nonwhite I personally think it would be someone from Asia or Latin America. Vietnamese or dark skinned Mexican etc.
