Hopefully this gets some real traction, a progressive movement is much needed here in the US
So it's not only about calling it a progressive movement, and we need to be careful about that. The devil is in the details and whoever grabs the mantle as speaker/head of the Progressive Party has to be concise about what exactly it is they mean by "progressive." You have to be willing to label centrist as minimalist and people willing to let morals slide for political points. You have to be ready to do what Bernie simply won't do, which is call everyone and their momma a "ho."
Is it just about being pro labor unions or supporting private citizens as well?
How do you show small businesses and entrepreneurs the benefits of your economic models?
If you're going to adopt the policies/rhetoric of the anti-war left, how are you going comfort middle eastern allies and confront Soviet aggression?
How do you speak to multi-national interests and human rights abuses?
Is the Progressive party going to speak about the devastating effects of the war on drugs on the black community, or will it take a color blind approach, as to not ruffle feathers?
Is the Progressive party going to talk to the real history of imperialism, racism, and genocide throughout US history, or are we just putting lipstick on a pig?
These are only some of the issues that have to be ISSUES that the NPP speaks vehemently about. I don't know how or where, but for each issue, they have to make the middle ground look like the point of view of the corrupt and weak willed. It can't get into identity politics because everyone is just going to label you a disgruntled hippy leftist or a poor ass college student who needs to join the real world.
