Weapons: There are a lot of weapons available from China such as the Sky Dragon Air Defense system, ti is cheap and capable of close and medium range air defense.
For air patrolling the country could easily obtain super tucanos for counter insurgency operations, 2 squadrons would suffice. For satellite support there are several options from China, and other African nations.
The elephant in the room is that the insecurity is coming from within not from some foreign nation. The biggest threat to Burkina Faso is not the west at the moment but islamist insurgents hellbent on turning the country into a caliphate.
Obtaining weapons is not hard, but if the system is internally corrupt and there is no grand strategy or vision, all the weapons in the world will not be enough to fix it.
I have been to several West African countries and the problems are all quite similar, corruption, tribalism and islamist terorrism. We have to be honest with ourselves. A single man is not enough, like I said, I like what Traore has to say but what we need is a system and a vision (similar to what Deng and the CCP created in China).
We have had tons of great African leaders and they all ended up killed or became villains themselves.
