VIDEO: Florida politician caught on TV eating his own earwax - NY Daily News (ok the first may not have been him earwax...)

A congressman appears to have been caught on camera eating his own earwax.

Florida Democrat Joe Garcia was seen digging into his ear and then chowing down on what came out.

The icky incident occurred during a hearing organized by the House Judiciary Committee last week.

Broadcast by C-SPAN, it was enough to put viewers off their food.

The clip was later uploaded to YouTube and, perhaps unpredictably, soon went viral.

It's now been seen almost 500,000 times.

Garcia, however, has played down his unusual snacking habits.

He claimed he was just scratching his ear before he noticed a hangnail which he subsequently took care of.

"My mom always told me to keep my fingers out of my mouth, and now I know why. I look forward to immigration reform going viral," he told NBC Miami.
