True, dawg, true. I, too, teach adults (i.e. church groups, ladies group, etc.). People need to understand that financial solidarity starts at any given point. I used the analogy of a bike when teaching.
Finances are like learning to ride a bike; in most cases, they're taught by someone else.
By grasping their reins (aka the handlebars) and gaining momentum (aka pedaling), they develop a "balance" (financially or, metaphorically, as in a checkbook) between "wants" and "needs".
Hoping 2014 will be a busy year.

Do you do any savings challenges? I was trying to gather some friends to do a 1 million penny challenge which is 10k and then we just split it once we get that much but people are all "well if I put in more" and all that so I iced it for now.

I do in some regards by making examples out of celebrities they admire and point out their shortcomings from their lack of saving. I juxtaposition the reported spending and lavish lifestyle these stars lead and then show the result of them not having a nest egg (i.e. bankruptcy, payment delinquency etc).
I stress the importance of a budget and how life is filled with many variables (i.e. car/ home repairs, loss of job, etc) that can be somewhat overcome by saving.

which certs: ccna, ccie, etc? u network admin or network engineer? firewall, data centers, routers, racks? u work out of a NOC, or go to various clients?
did you get a live-in? or duplex or quadplex?

Find a hobby, preferably something that I not only enjoy but i can parlay into a lucrative situation.
Me and my patna got this idea we been working on. We trying to develop it to a certain point and sell it off. We have been researching and working on this for almost a year, and the prototypes should be easy to produce cost wise.
But we have been reading books on the product development industry and it seems difficult to get into to say the least.
My new years resolution is to get a meeting to pitch our product by the end of the year.
If anyone has any helpful information or book recommendations on innovating, and/or product development, shoot me a pm or something. I would greatly appreciate it
