The question isn't really where it originated (unless the virus mutated differently in different regions, developping different characteristics in the process, so that you need to kniw what strain you are dealing with to treat it) the question is why governments were complacent and didn't react to the outbreak back in january, when there was still time to prevent a pandemic and stock up on masks and medication.
