:heh:i was wondering what ridiculous angle the cons would use to complain about this

I'm a liberal. :russ:

I asked for alternatives. Two alternatives have been given so far. The article says get rid of plastic one-use bags but never say what the replacements will be. Also the article doesn't even get into why NYC has such a problem with plastic recycling and why so much plastic is ending up in the sewers in the first place.

I thought we had to own an NPR tote bag in order to post in HL :picard:

:what:

People just don't put their shyt in the recycling bin like everyone else?

So after the NY Gov ban one-use plastic bags what is he going to do about all the plastic already in the sewers? And all the one-use plastic bags already made? Any word on that?

I feel like I remember reading years ago that paper bags over plastic only has a negligible if any gain over plastic bags once the entire process is taken into consideration.

It could have been propaganda though. I should probably look it up.

Which is more environmentally friendly: paper or plastic?

Basically @88m3 is right. Reusable bags are the most green and what would probably be the alternative. Slightly inconvenient especially if you're buying several bags of groceries. But paper isn't much greener than plastic, if at all. At least based on the 5 links posted.

I live out in Suffolk county where they charge 5 cents per plastic bag. So far it seems to be working as i'm seeing people bringing in their own reusable bags. :ehh:
