I haven't heard Reloaded but from what I've deduced in the leak thread it's in the same vein as Ka beat wise. The Alchemist being the wild card.

You should listen to the Luv NY album if you wanna hear that minimalist sound perfected. Roc Marc is in the group.

IMO JJ DOOM & Skyzoo may have crafted the most "now" sounding AOTY contenders. People seem split on JJDOOM though. There's BRILLIANT songs on that album.

Large Pro crafted one of the best "not now" albums this year too. He's a treasure.

Luv NY, Ka & Roc Marc are all on that Ray West/AG/Everythng's Berri wave that i dig.

Sean P is Sean P. thankfully.

and Ace KILLED those special herbs. how do you take beats that familiar and breathe new life into them? a testament to how timeless the beats and MC are.

My Pops Forever RIP
Ka - decent
Nas - good
Roc - great
Joey Badass - good

The rest? Eh...and that's the problem. A LOT of NY's output is just that.

and there you have it.

Go through it by year and you'll find out that NY always puts out a respectable amount of music. This year it just seemed like that breakthrough album didn't happen. There's usually one or two each year even from NY, but this year the records were good, some individual songs really good, but truthfully the person that made the biggest leap in terms of "he's about to wreck shyt going forward on a bigger scale" was Harry Fraud.

Harry Fraud is actually a hack quiet as kept. Clams Casino anyone?
