Not sure if I support. GAT programs have their place, especially if the infrastructure to raise the playing level of the entire school isn't present. Truth be told, there are some kids who just don't have the family support, capacity or interest in going above and beyond. No need to keep the ambitious kids held back.

It acts as de facto segregation and a lot of the teacher's act accordingly.

I was in a gifted class at a mostly Black school as well as at a mostly White school, and the difference in attitudes is a lot more apparent.

I do feel for the teachers though, it's tough trying to get through lesson plans with rowdy students, virtually all of them will end up half-completed.
