Brooklyn the planet...
50 Cent fought everyone who was poppin and making hot music. If Murder Inc was still around they would've produced some type of talent. G-Unit failed to carry that weight.
Overall, there is young talent from New York but none of them know how to make hit records and the older generation are still trying to stay in the game and because new york is all about "competition" it just seems like its every man for himself. I mean seriously, Who has Nas co-signed or put on in the last 5 years? Jay-Z didn't try to bring no mc's from new york.
Who said Nas had to? What about hov who actually HAS A LABEL?!? What up and coming NY rappers has he given shine to?
NY main problem is everyone is except NY to do something instead just letting shyt progress. There is also a negative tone toward "that NY sound" and barely anyone wants to be labeled with it. Also the new and up coming artist who get shine are signing or mimicking what's hot. ASAP jacking Houston style and try to bring it to 125th and Lennox, French sounding like he from Florida with maybach music, and this guy Fab just looks at charting singles, finds out who produced that single, and runs to do a catchy single sounding exactly the same to pay his bills I guess.
And as far as Nas and Hov I mean I think they really love rapping. They might do it forever. Doesn't mean the newer cats can't shine. nikkas need to step it the fukk up. nikkas aren't carrying the torch properly for NY.
