2br for 1500!?

Thats actually a good price though... Thats like Chicago prices right there... $750 per person if you have a roommate...

In San Francisco, Its double that($3000) for a 2 bedroom... $1500 might be able to get you a 1 bedroom...

That's a nice apartment but $4,300??? Gotdamn. My dude from high school had a pretty nice apartment in Columbus for about $375 a month before he moved out to Brooklyn last year. He was paying about $700 to rent a small bedroom and he had two roommates. He was working a regular restaurant job and was only out there for a few months until the prices killed him.

He is determined to get back there though. I tried to convince him to find another big city with more reasonable cost of living but he is in love with Brooklyn.

:whew:Where at?

I currently pay about 1300 for a nice Studio in Mission... But I'd love an extra $400 dollars in my pocket... As long as I have access to the train im good...

Difference is, $1500 in New York will give you a 2 bedroom in Brooklyn or Queens whereas $1500 in Chicago will give you a 2 bedroom downtown in the Loop or somewhere in Lakeview, Lincoln Square or Logan Square. Alot of people sleep on Chicago. Most of the jobs you would find in Manhattan have Chicago offices while the cost of living is about half of what it is in NYC. Its not Manhattan but, its still the 3rd largest city.

I make +$100K because I work in IT. I don't see the big deal here. That's nothing.

Even if you make alot of money you can't deny that rent in NYC is a bit high.

Manhattan is a small island and everyone wants to live there or visit there. So due to simple supply and demand the price per square meter will increase exponentially. For those who are complaining about the rent in NYC you should look up Monaco. It's a small country but the apartments there are smaller than NYC but go for millions.
