He was extremely important to their playoff runs in 09/10. Dont underestimate that.

They're just so far removed from making that type of run...its whatever. Especially with the likelihood of him holding out again this year...the organization probably just wants to move on and get some chips in return.

The Jets play in the AFC east. The WR's they see twice a year are probably the worst overall group of any division in football.

I`m not saying what he does isn't important and wasn't important to their success, it just got blown out of proportion and Revis became the face of the franchise.

No CB should ever be the face of a franchise.

Also, like you said at this point, the team has so many other holes, having that dominant CB means almost nothing now.

why not? thats your opinion.

he's the best defensive player in the league, regardless of position.

If the CB is the face of the franchise that`s telling me you don't got a lot else on that franchise.

Therefore that player is going to command a big contract, and CB's not a place where you should be spending $12m on a guy.

you dont trade a future HOF player and go back on your word after you promised him a new deal and then issue trash contracts to other players

you build around your best player

You sound like you're coming from a place of emotion.

Go back on what word? That was Tannenbaum's word if you don't recall.

If your best player is your Punter do you build around him?

It's a corner. They were dumb to treat a corner like they did in the first place.

*Looks at the SB rosters, tries to find the unbelievable A+ 10 million dollar corners*

dealing Revis doesn't = having a franchise QB, LB, RB, S, or DE.

There's a clause in Revis' contract where if he holds out again he loses the ability to opt out of his deal, thus locking him in for 3 more years.

Whose to say it doesn't though.

If you deal Revis, a guy whose best days you probably have already seen, you might be able to get back some picks that bring in those great players at those positions. Also you free up dough to take chances on those other positions in FA

Keep Revis and you have a complete question mark in health and a dude who is going to grandstand you for a big ass deal at the end of the year even if his play doesn't show he deserves it.

How long you gonna keep dumping 20+ mil into your starting corners

If your best player is your punter you try to draft other players at other positions, NOT trade the punter and think everything will be fine.

Matter of fact, you tell me what a good package is for Revis. And if they're gonna deal Revis, deal Cromartie. Deal Harris. Don't bring back the safeties. Cut the crappy players no matter what the hit is and literally start off like an expansion team in 2014.

A good deal for Revis is a quality offensive starter and 2 good draft picks, prerferably a 1st and 2nd.

Because Revis is not only a health mystersy, he's a rental with a big price tag at the end of the season. He is more of a problem than an asset at this point.

He's 27. Now Revis is gonna be :flabbynsick: according to you?

As opposed to trading him, starting a guy in Kyle Wilson that at best should be a safety, keeping a worse CB in Cromartie, oh, and keeping some liabilities here more than they're worth?

Revis is worth the money. He's the one guy that we know is worth every cent. Not Fez. Not Holmes. Not Harris. Not shyt'Brick. Revis. Revis' deal will not kill this team when nothing of value should even be here past next season. If they're rebuilding, by the time they even get someone else worth paying, for all we know Revis might not have much time left on the next deal.

When there's something else on the team worth dumping $20+ mil into.

He's not done like that, but who knows what he's got after that injury? He could be significantly slower and now need safety help all the time.

What we do know is he is going to want to be paid out the ass, that's a fact.

You keep dropping 20+ mil into 2 corners and you`ll never have anything worse dropping money into.
