It could be no other way. The combination of the pathetic "both sides" rhetoric regarding Trump and Clinton with no specific condemnation that the worst part of 2016, Nov. 8th, along with the blind optimism of people facing another new year, led to masses of people promoting an end of the year meme basically saying hey 2016 was universally a shytty year, so 2017 will have to be better, right?! And the whole time I've been like mmmm NOPE. Not quite. 2016 was like the creepy beginning of a horror film. 2017 is when the monster shows up for the first time. If you can follow the pattern, you can recognize that it's gonna get a lot scarier and bloodier before we can eventually defeat this evil and have a chance at a future year that we can sincerely judge as "better" than the recent times pre-2016.
