cost of living in nyc is ridiculous, at least the lifestyle i'd want to live in the city... that means im not living in queens or brooklyn or any of the other inferior boroughs... yea u can find an apartment in queens somewhere that's "affordable" but the same applies elsewhere. theres no point in living average in new york to me. average costs in nyc will get u above average sht anywhere else, like chicago.
average rent in manhattan is around 3400$/month.. thats over 40k a year in rent... so yea, even if ur making 100k a year almost half of ur money would go to rent, and forget about owning a car and paying car note + insurance on top of your basic living expenses.

downtown chicago highrise apartments have rent from 1600-2400.
i mean if dudes wana live in some old rundown neighborhood thats fine but theres nothing affordable or 'comfortable' with nyc living. stop
