only negative is that....within a year he's going to get better offer somewhere else...and the momentum will stop. Principal of Shabazz was making positive changes there a few years back, school improved test scores ,attendance rates, graduation rates
Then he got offered the bag, left....and nobody picked up the torch.
Again, Great look for Newark, great look for West Side.....my relatives and friends who went there are all rallying behind this man and their school...just hope the changes are permanent.
Anybody on the coli from that part of Newark, we used to play ball on that slanted ass court behind St. Rocco's when we were kids.

shyt is obvious. Always said community centers with FREE entertainment are the way to keep kids out of trouble. I had them growing up. Throw in some tutoring rooms and you’re killing 2 birds.

im not condoning but LOL.
you know how many hours & days I wasted looking for jobs, a lot of them being gigs that I was over-qualified for? only to come away with nothing.
if I was broke and/or in the slums, i'd say "f*ck it" and hit the trenches too.

I was in a catholic jr high school that did the same. It was until 8-9 at night. Just balling and listening to music.

yea.
when I was that age, we had PAL(Police Athletic League) in our school's auditorium/cafeteria.
and it was mostly the public school homies that showed up. things like these make a world of difference. I think they still have it too.
