:russ: wow I remember laughing at the video of him pleading to them in court like a year or so ago. nikka got sent out by a church to steal and then they hit him with the :usure: when he got caught.
Actions have consequences.
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
His death is his own fault. I have no sympathy for him or his family.
"Adventurous" :skip:

When your privilege card gets rejected abroad and reality comes at you fast:bryan:

I've seen dumbass frat boys do some wild shyt in my life but this by far is 1st ballot FML Hall of Fame.
Yea, but the Muslim and the black guy got killed simply for existing. He went to a communist state and did some shyt and thought the US law would save him. Sucks to be him. Let that be a lesson to others who think cause they're a certain shade of skin or American that this justice system we got here don't apply around the world. No sympathy.
Sorta like his Christian mission? :jbhmm:

Ya'all are crazy. You straight believed the North Korean narrative about him secretly stealing a poster for some Methodist Church (why the hell would a church want a poster?) when breh was JEWISH and had never had anything to do with that church in his life.

And the North Koreans check every file on your smartphone and every item in your bag when you come in and go out. But you want to believe that someone is going to be dumb enough to steal a giant framed poster off a wall and think they can sneak off with it because...?

Not to mention that not only did no on in his group ever see him touch a poster, but the North Koreans didn't arrest him until they were checking out of the hotel the next morning. If they saw him doing it, then why not arrest him the night before when it supposedly happened? If they didn't see him doing it, then why did they arrest him before they had searched his bags? The arrest makes no sense.

Degree of victim-blaming here was on some crazy level. :dwillhuh:

Dumb ass.
How would his family deny it when they were on the other side of the world and didn't get their first chance to see him until he was in a coma? :what:

How would he deny it when he was in North Korean custody the whole time and didn't once get to even speak with an American representative? :francis:

The confession is worthless for the same reason that all North Korea confessions are worthless. Every single prisoner who has ever been forced into a North Korea confession says they go at you with psychological torture and threats that you'll never see the light of day again until you confess to everything. I mean, he actually wrote that he stole the poster "at the prompting of a local Methodist church, a university secret society, and the American administration, to harm the work ethic and motivation of the Korean people and bring home a trophy.”

If you believe that some random Jewish guy was part of a secret plot to harm the Korean people thrown by the combined forces of the US government, the Methodist church, and a secret college society, you probably also believe that Kim Jong-il set the world record for lowest golf score on his first outing. :pachaha:

Yes, this video of a black smudge is clearly 100% Otto Warmbier. Absolutely no chance it is anyone else in the world, right?

Forget for a moment the fact that the video looks fake as hell (look at the odd, robotic way that he approaches the poster directly and takes the poster down - it doesn't look like a thief stealing something or trying to get away quickly, it looks like a man holding a sensitive artpiece who doesn't want to be accused of hurting it). How would the North Koreans have been able to identify him from that black smudge and arrest him the next morning without interrogating all the other travelers first? The only things we know from his fellow travelers was that they lost track of him at 2:30am on New Year's Eve when they went bowling and found him asleep in the room at 4:30am, then the North Koreans took him based on looking at his documents the next morning. How does that work?

The idea that ya'all take North Korea's word on this as a bastion of truth and freedom is ridiculous. It is obvious that the confession was a farce. The arrest timing makes no sense. The motive makes no sense. And the video is meaningless. So why do you believe this? :gucci:

Do you have cites for the people who said he was "doing stupid shyt"? What stupid shyt? Because I went looking to verify your claim and found articles like this one and this one that state that the tour operator was blind drunk and doing stupid shyt, but not Otto. It was New Year's Eve on a tour group famous for drinking, EVERYONE was drinking that night. But what is your evidence that Otto was doing anything like "stealing a poster"?

Here are the questions I'm interested to hear answers from you on:

#1. The video was stamped 1:57am, but Otto's friends said that he was with them until past 2am. How does that work?

#2. The poster was in a staff-only portion of the hotel. How did Otto even get in there, and why?

#3. If he's really as drunk as you claim, then why doesn't the figure on the video look drunk at all?

#4. If he really intended to steal a poster, how did he even know that there'd be a poster in the staff-only area of the hotel to steal, and why wasn't the poster in his luggage afterwards?

#5. How did the North Koreans identify him?

#6. The other tour members said that when the North Koreans took him, he didn't look scared at all, he only smiled back at them and they made a joke about never seeing him again. If he had really gone back to a staff-only part of the hotel and stole a poster the night before, wouldn't he be shytting his pants when they came to arrest him?

#7. How do you reconcile the obvious, total lies about it being a plot involving the U.S. government, a local hometown Methodist Church, and a secret college society?

#8. If this was the American legal system, would you believe them locking up a guy for life based on THAT evidence?

U.S. student detained in North Korea 'over hotel incident'
Charlotte Guttridge, a tour leader at Young Pioneer Tours and the only outside witness to Warmbier’s detention, said the 21-year-old University of Virginia student was not with other tourists when the events that appear to have prompted his arrest occurred.

“What happened, happened at the hotel and my belief is that Otto kept it to himself out of hope it might go unnoticed,” Guttridge told Reuters.

He did that shyt, the people with him confirmed it.
:stopitslime:

Being drunk on new years eve is not an excuse to go to another country and disrespect their rules.

Did you think I wouldn't check your link? This was her full quote:

"Throughout the trip, Otto behaved as a typical tourist - taking pictures, enjoying himself. We had no indication that anything untoward had happened until the airport."

"During his five-day New Year’s tour of North Korea, staff at Young Pioneer Tours said Warmbier had acted normally, and was keen to see daily life in one of the world’s most isolated countries"

"Staff at the tour operator said as far as they knew Warmbier had not been in possession of any religious or political literature."

She says that she didn't see anything, that if he did anything he kept it to himself, that in their view he was just like a typical tourist, and THAT is your evidence? :wtf:

Your claim was, "other people who were with him admitted he was drunk and doing stupid shyt," and then your only receipt for that is one of the tour operators trying to cover her ass by saying, "Hey, we didn't see anything, he must have kept it to himself." :heh:

He did that shyt, the people with him confirmed it.
:stopitslime:

Receipts. Because I already caught David lying on that front, and everything I've seen states that no one who was with him saw him do anything.

So you think cacs are gonna be honest about what he did to put himself in that position?

He went there and started acting like he was untouchable because he was white, like most cacs do when they visit other people countries.

You are right, I got the roles mixed up. Most were out having a good time, he was off to himself and up to shyt that the guide noticed.

So there you go, right there for you, man was up to no good and got caught on tape stealing.
They found the shyt in his bag and its a wrap.
