Yeah, outlawing gambling will go about as well as outlawing prostitution, drugs, and alcohol have gone. It’s a vice that humans have partaken in since days of antiquity and will go on until the end of time. Banning the advertising is probably the better solution.
If you're going to ban things that are negatively impacting of your life, I can think of several things that would be far higher in the queue to ban(alcohol, cigarettes, SUGAR)

gambling is literally the one vice I have NEVER had an interest in. I've been to a casino a couple times, and lost each time, which permanently caused me to lose interest.
I've NEVER had any interest in sports betting, nor have I used one of those gambling apps. I have no interest in the lottery, and the most I've ever done is buy a powerball ticket once a year.

You're referring to the Supreme Court's ruling in Murphy vs NCAA - that was in 2018 and allowed the boom, but there are legal sportsbooks set up for decades in Vegas
