A violent coup was just attempted and officials from one of the largest political institutions in the country are explicitly calling for violence against their political opponents. Measures are already being taken to restrict voter rights and overturn future elections. On top of that SCOTUS is occupied by religious zealots who won't just stop at abortion. They'll go after the federal governments ability to ensure clean air, water, food and challenge a host of other civil liberties. Saying this isn't fear mongering. Its fact.
