No one outside of snoop's story is interesting enough. Dmx is comedy. Regular, on top, on crack... Repetitively!

gotta be a compelling story start to finish... and i think dmx would have it over snoop


young wild kid.. kicked outhi shouse.. doing jail bids like young kenard type... then love aspectg between him and his dog boomer.. seeing the dog get killed, him going into more crime, robbing and killin... making it out.. being one the greatest in the gme.. and most famous.. then losing it all to crack and jail

jay could be good... but after some point, jay just keeps winning.. maybe they make dame the bad guy and that's the tormoil... you kinda gotta have to have a bad guy, some rises and falls, type of shyt... i don't see jay being that open to his marriage and home life either



rza would be the wu tang movie... no way they try and develop 9 characters and stories... shyt they barely could do 5 with nwa.. had to regulate ren and yella to sidekick status.. imagine where masta killa and u god gonna end up

but rza started his own career, had murder trial he beat, created wu, watched it fall apart somewhat, did movies, tried to bring it back together.. mad fights, reunites, odbs death, different lockups, etc


puffy would be good.. rise and fall of his label, biggie shyt, mase shyt, lox shyt, arista shyt, clothing, liquor, getting sued, beef, happy ending.... his might be pretty good... dad was a hustler too so they could play into that..


run dmc but was there a lot of drama.. would enough people go see an 80s rap movie... by 1990 run dmc wasn't even what they used to be.. that's early mid 80s

I see a lot of Run DMC, bone Thugs, Wu Tang, No Limit etc - nobody is denying their talent and contribution to hip hop. But to answer the question? Nobody except Pac (which is currently in production), not even Jay-Z.

When I was learning screenwriting every single time one of the main notes given to me was "you need to have conflict in the story, if there is none, it's boring".

I know some of you guys love 36 Chambers and all that, but outside of the hip hop community who are they? Nobodies. Sure they might be noticeable by face but not on a large scale, where a very significant portion of the US knows about them (even more important if known on an international basis).

NWA was the first music act to EVER have a parental advisory sticker on their cd. Their main song was called "fukk THE POLICE". WHOEVER DARED TO TALK ABOUT THE COPS LIKE THAT, EVER?! Especially on just a large scale. You seen people holding protests over their materials, you had White America's attention (this is very significant with a biopic), there was conflicts all over their image.

8 Mile and Get Rich or Die Tryin' weren't necessarily biopics but portrayed a good portion of Em and 50's lives in the film. Those films were made because their buzz was astronomical at the time. If those movies weren't made I guarantee one on Em would be made on Em in atleast a decade (conflict - difficult upbringing, white rapper, homophobia, record sales, internationally known, abusive towards his wife, etc etc). 50 probably not because his buzz died down but the whole got shot 9 times did wonders for his film then.

A lot of you guys hated Notorious and you know what, aside from the Pac scenario, there was barely any dilemma in Big's life. We don't care about him and Faith Evans relationship, there are cheaters in every film. I haven't seen the James Brown biopic, it came and went. Why? People forgot about him. Sure your grandma plays his records when you go over there, there was a time he sold millions but not much conflict.

The next major biopic musically should be and will be Michael Jackson. Just him being the most famous entertainer on earth and being accused of child molestation charges can be one film and we already know every other conflict he's faced in life (Jackson 5 issues, skin change, etc)

You make a great point but with good research and good writers you can pull it off because I'm sure all the artists mentioned in this thread went through a lot of turmoil whether it's music business related or in their personal life

Might not be as dramatic as the shyt pac was going through or might not make for a box office hit like straight outta Compton but still can make for some interesting stories that are needed

A jay movie would suck. Yall thought dre depiction was bad. Jay ain't letting no dirt get on his name. And Jay my goat but if they made one about him I don't think I would be interested.

Hell he wouldn't even let that autobiography come out so I doubt we ever see a jay movie while he relevant.

I'd only wanna see a death row movie as kind of a sequel to straight out of Compton. Prolly start it in 92/93 and end it a lil after 96. Could be an unofficial bio for suge as well.

You read my mind,i was just thinking how the only way to do the Deathrow biopic would be as basically a bio for Suge....Ive heard some of the big Deathrow moments have already been touched on in the NWA film,and Pac will probably get one before Deathrow would unless shyt keeps going bad,so that means more moments from Deathrow will be seen on the big screen before we get to see a Deathrow biopic....but lowkey a biopic on Suge is really the only thing that makes a Deathrow pic REALLY interesting....you cant end it with Pac dying because that's how Pacs ends...but you can focus it around Suge.

Football star from Compton,supposedly got away with shooting somebody during a car jacking,becomes a bodyguard for Bobby Brown,hangs one of the biggest stars in the US from a balcolny allegedly,or at least threatens em to get his peoples royalties....the Suge Knight and Harry O connection,Eazy E beef helping Dre out his contract,Snoop and DPG,beef with Puffy,East coast west coast fued,we get to see some of the lesser known stories,Pacs death...Suge going to jail and getting out,Left Eyes death,Suge pulling up on the set of Straight Out Of COmpton...who knows how it ends,but its not going to be a happy ending by the looks of things for Suge

Unlike other biopics there might be a finality to this one,that other biopic movies don't have going for them...One mans rise to the top,his true love of fukkery and how it cost him so much,they can even show Suge as a complex man if he is one,as of right now all that's really known about him on a personal level is that he truly seems to love the bullshyt,but obviously I think its got to be more to em than that...Not sure if Suge would allow himself to be vulnerable and to tell you about his inner feelings,but even if you just take him at face value he's a interesting figure....maybe not knowing what makes him tick would make him even more interesting to watch.

Mac Dre needs one but will never happen,i think it would've have if he got to blow up before he died....Public Enemy I still think is most likely to happen after Pac,that or 2 Live Crew just because you could build it around racial themes and crack era or censorship....Chuck D and Flav being so opposite and charismatic in what they both did I think would make for a good movie....we might found out groups make much better biopics on average than solo,a Bone Thugs,Wu,Ghetto Boyz,Run Dmc all feel like they should be done...its good when u got different personalities and personality clashes u can see on screen.

An unfiltered no holds bar, Master P, Puffy, or Suge Knight movie would be dope to me. Like if all of the facts could be collected and the story could be told without these dudes cosign. Like to show Puffy's true snake behavior and ties to the underworld. Showing P maneuver between the streets & Corporate America. These movies could be mad compelling.

Even the ridiculousness of a movie about Baby's life, personality, and street history. Let Ms. Gladys get some shine

A Master P flick would be insane, but I don't think folks that were not from the hood or south understand how important he was. A dungeon Family flick would be dope too. But as for something that could be powerful from a nation wide perspective Wu Tang or a Jay Z flick.
