Wasn't the format changed already for this season tho?

I meant automatic home games for division winners. Even though it will be 7 teams from here on, seeds 1-4 still go to division winners.

If this season doesn't make them make changes to the playoff format, nothing ever will. :mjlol:[/QUOTE
Doing this would eliminate the point of winning a division or having divisions in general. Also this is not a common occurrence as well. The last time division was this bad was back in 2010 when Seattle won it with a record of 7-9.

@darealvelle
That would make sense if it was only 4 or 5 teams making it to the playoffs.

And when there were only 3 divisions per conference, the best wild card team used to get a home game, but because they decided to shrink the divisions, teams that would not have gotten a home game before automatically get one for winning a division of dubious strength? It doesn't make sense. They should guarantee them a playoff spot, nothing more.

No doubt they could fix it so this scenario never happens, but it’s just an uncommon situation. Now if this happens again next year with the nfc East or other division changes will need to happen or be considered. Another topic but all these NFC East organizations are stuck in their old ways outside maybe Philly. They are just ran with a dated mentality and the owners are just stubborn. Dallas just needs a whole culture change and everybody see it’s.

It’s uncommon but remember in 2010, Saints vs Seahawks when Beastmode had that iconic TD run? The Saints had 11 wins and had to play AT a 7-win Seahawks. Not saying that happens regularly but the division winner having less wins than their wild card opponent happens often that the NFL should stop rewarding division winners with inferior records a playoff game.
