NFL 100 All-Time Team running backs revealed - NFL.com

The only one of these guys I got to see was Emmitt's last 6 years. I think I missed his absolute peak, but I still got to see 40% of his career, and I gotta tell you, I was never that impressed with him...

So you gotta understand, while he was on the decline when I saw him, he still put up numbers those first three years. But there were other top RBs at that time like George, Ricky, Fred Taylor, Dillon, Faulk, these guys were all better than Emmitt in the 6 seasons I saw Emmitt play...

So it's a little perplexing to me to hear he is considered one of the best backs ever. I'm gonna need some convincing by guys on here who saw his prime...

Gimme yall thoughts on the rest of this list, and is anyone else watching the DL and LB release on NFL Network right now?

Thoughts?

Lol the Emmitt hate is always cute. So you saw emmitt from 97-03?

I saw him play from 1999-2004, his last six years...

I already said I missed his absolute peak, so explain to me what made him so great. Would you say he was better than Sweetness or Barry or ED or the other Top 12?

I remember the '99 Cowboys because the Vikings drilled them in the playoffs. Emmitt was still a 1300-yard guy at that time, so it's not like I only saw washed Emmitt...

The years i saw him he was slower than other Top backs, didn't have the best footwork or quickness thru the hole of other Top backs, wasn't the most explosive, wasn't the hardest to bring down or had the lowest center of gravity, wasn't an elite pass blocker or pass catcher, etc...

So tell me what made him elite at his best? He seems more like Frank Gore to me, he far from a scrub, but he has volume stats because he played in an offense, and in an era, that fed him the rock 25 times a game. He was durable, tough, and smart, and seemed to protect the football, but I don't know how great I'd say he was if comparing guys peak for peak...

If he played in this era he'd be Frank Gore, down to body type and all...

Adrian Peterson and LaDainian Tomlinson should both be on that list but hey that's just my opinion.

LT is one of the most explosive backs I've ever seen. I've been watching The Game since '99 season, both him and AP would be at the top of the list of best backs in the last 20 years....

A guy who gets underrated because of the strange arc in his career, but was unquestionably at his best one of the best football players I ever saw, was Ricky Williams. I would say him at his best was arguably better than AP or LT, but durability and longevity do matter and he wasn't as productive as these guys for as long...

Ricky was dominant and didn't have a major weakness besides he put the ball on the ground more than you'd like. But had no other weaknesses, so if I was making a list of top backs of the last 20 years, he's right at the top too!

How you gonna say you don't get the hype when the only time you saw him play was when he was washed? Would be like saying you only saw Kobe after he tore his Achilles and concluded he was garbage. :martin:

Emmitt was washed in '99? '00?

I'm not sure what the confusion is about, as I've already said I need nikkas to explain what made him so great. But you nikkas don't have an answer I see, just conjecture and fake disbelief as if nobody has ever heard people question how good Emmitt was before...

I still saw 40% of his career, yall nikkas acting like I only saw him play four games or something. You're not good at math, because an equivalent statement about Kobe would mean I saw the last 8 years of his career (that's 40%), starting in 2008-09. Which was obviously plenty of time to see him before the injury...

Some of you dudes don't have any real commentary to contribute and are dap fishing for other cats that groupthink the same...

Emmit was better than Barry at everything but running. But running he wasnt too far off. I knew emmit was a beast when he went to wack ass AZ and pretty much ran for over 1000k late in his career

btw I’m from Detroit. So I was trained to hate Emmit

As a saints fan I was pissed when we traded Ricky and right before his prime also smh. Then Ricky had to get addicted to weed and his prime was cut short. Ricky, LT, AP, Jamal Lewis, and Shaun Alexander were my favorite running backs of the 2000's. I think people don't hold Adrian Peterson in regards to other legends is because he's still playing but you can make a argument that he's top 5 already at running-back.
