Emmit was better than Barry at everything but running. But running he was too far off. I knew emmit was a beast when he went to wack ass AZ and pretty much ran for over 1000k late in his career

btw I’m from Detroit. So I was trained to hate Emmit
Didn't happen.

Pretty much everyone I've heard speak on those two always says Barry was better, that's interesting...

But Emmitt was still good late in his career, the cats in here saying he was washed either wasn't watching him or just looking to fight. I am fully aware I didn't see him at his very best, but he ran for over 900 yards in 5 of his last 6 years. He was on the decline but he clearly still had juice in the tank until the end, he wasn't like a lot of backs who completely just fall off a cliff...

As a saints fan I was pissed when we traded Ricky and right before his prime also smh. Then Ricky had to get addicted to weed and his prime was cut short. Ricky, LT, AP, Jamal Lewis, and Shaun Alexander were my favorite running backs of the 2000's. I think people don't hold Adrian Peterson in regards to other legends is because he's still playing but you can make a argument that he's top 5 already at running-back.

Ricky was the truth when he was available...

Peterson had to me one if the highest peaks ever, I agree when he retires more people will throw his name in the conversation...

I'm not sure I saw anybody better than Marshall Faulk in the two decades I've watched the game. Complete game changer, I think longevity could be a factor in why he didn't make the cut. He only played 12 years and was completely done his last three years (unlike Emmitt who was more productive at the end with more tread on his tires)...

Plus he had an injury-shortened season early in his career and missed time in his prime to injuries, but at his very best I think one could easily at least argue he was the greatest running back ever, for sure in the last 20 years...

Barry had a trash line in Detroit there's really no comparison between the two.

I saw him play from 1999-2004, his last six years...

I already said I missed his absolute peak, so explain to me what made him so great. Would you say he was better than Sweetness or Barry or ED or the other Top 12?

I remember the '99 Cowboys because the Vikings drilled them in the playoffs. Emmitt was still a 1300-yard guy at that time, so it's not like I only saw washed Emmitt...

The years i saw him he was slower than other Top backs, didn't have the best footwork or quickness thru the hole of other Top backs, wasn't the most explosive, wasn't the hardest to bring down or had the lowest center of gravity, wasn't an elite pass blocker or pass catcher, etc...

So tell me what made him elite at his best? He seems more like Frank Gore to me, he far from a scrub, but he has volume stats because he played in an offense, and in an era, that fed him the rock 25 times a game. He was durable, tough, and smart, and seemed to protect the football, but I don't know how great I'd say he was if comparing guys peak for peak...

If he played in this era he'd be Frank Gore, down to body type and all...

False

That’s a misconception. Barry had pretty much a good line his whole career. 2 pro bowlers in Glover & Brown. Mike Compton was solid too. He never had a trash line ever

You got any real football analysis to contribute or you just here to watch nikkas who really know how to talk about the game politic?

Your basketball IQ is shaky but at least you've dropped a little knowledge there, I've never seen you contribute anything of substance to football. So enter the discussion, what made Emmitt so great?

You don't know shyt about basketball. You started watching it the same time you started watching football. No wonder you're just as clueless with your basketball takes as you are with your football takes.

Have you ever played a single sport in your life outside of gym class?

So the answer is no, you can't politic football...

I'll freely admit my basketball IQ isn't on the level of my football IQ, I'm damn near a genius at football, so unless you're coming with something to really talk about go enjoy your Friday night instead of cheerleading me lol...

Be a genius at football and question the greatness of emmitt smith, brehs. Do you even think about what you're saying?

You were 10 years old watching 30 year old emmitt. You never played a sport in your life and don't even bother to research the sports you speak upon as I would a expect a nerd who looks like you to. I'll also add boxing to the list of sports you're clueless on based on Ali takes.
