NFLPA needs to renegotiate the back end of those deals, dummies. Should have never included an option in the fifth, rookie contracts, since they're already beneficial to teams, should lead to UFA (or RFA) going into the fifth year, clear standouts will get paid, mediocre athlete will get what the market determines.

The NfL shouldnt even have a salary cap. I honestly dont get how mlb gets away with no cap, but all the other leagues have them. If Clayton Kershaw walked into a room in his uniform, the majority of America would have no clue who he is. NFL qbs should be the highest paid players in pro sports

A cap is needed otherwise the NFL would be just like the NBA. The problem is the cap staying flat or not really rising that much. MLB is a different animal because you can't buy a championship. You look at the billions the Yankees spent last decade and they had 1 count it 1 championship to show for it. You take the cap away in the NFL and the Cowboys featuring ARod, Peterson, Megatron, Fitzgerald, Gronk, Revis, Willis, and insert various other all pros would be going for their 8th straight SB.

You would still have a form of revenue sharing tho. The market would cap itself at a point.

But maybe the cap doea need to be larger. I'd also like to see the franchise tag gone

Why don't they just sit out then? Demand renegotiation. The panthers and texans aren't going to let newton and watt walk thats for damn sure.

Not happening. The veterans are content with this deal. Young players have to wait until after year 3 to even approach a team about an extension.

The NFLPA is a shytty union.

They sold there younger players down the river. I said they got raped when they signed that deal. All that holding out (or rather being locked out) for nothing.
You would hate the NHLPA. They made concessions though, but still sold out on rookies.

Hyberbole obviously, then again maybe not knowing Jerry, but smaller markets would be a gross disadvantage.

Ya, I knew it was somewhat tongue in cheek, but I'm saying football is more like baseball than basketball in that regard. Too many variables go into winning a super bowl.

A capless NBA would lead to that.
A capless NFL would still be competitive.

Yeah look at pre cap nfl while the overall product imo was better back then you always had one or two teams that were basically much better then everyone else ie Cowboys Niners for a few years and you had one sided super bowls for a over a decade where you had on dominant team, sicne the cap we havent seen a domiant tema that you know couldnt lose becasue you cant build that much talent on one team in todays nfl with a hard cap

Parity would be destroyed. The NFL would turn into college football.
