If I had to guess, they might want to add more mics on the sidelines and on players. That's the only reason I can think of for some of these proposals.

The NFL has an image problem, but what the league office doesn't understand is that no one cares.
People will still have the TV on CBS and Fox, Sunday at noon.

Trash talk is a part of competition. How exactly does it "lower the standard" on the field? If anything it seperates the truly strong minded from the weak.

Who doesn't talk trash? I have never been around anyone (black/white/brown/straight/gay/male/female) that doesn't engage in trash talk when competiting in some fashion. Not to say that everybody talks trash but everybody talks trash.
As long as Brady's displays of pure passion and love for the game and competitiveness aren't tempered things will be okay.
