Good question, but trust me and my son can catch all the flack ever, but we gwan be in the park working on goal line punt placement and 48 yard fgs, fukk all that other concusion shyt :sas1:
Random, but this seems like as good a thread as any to post this.. Are kickers and punters recruited out of high school? Like how do you become known in that and get a rating? Are there five star recruits for kickers punters and long snappers? Or are they plucked from the soccer team in college or some shyt?

Some of these teams with garbage kickers need to be sending scouts to the Rugby World Cup looking for potential replacements ... If Owen Farrell's to embarassed to show his face in Twickenham again I'm sure the Steelers would have him.

They're recruited in some instances and given scholarships, and other occasions they walk-on as a "preferred walk-on (i.e. We want you to be on the team and if you enroll here you will be, but you wont start off on scholarship)." They get known by "kicking camps" which are like the camps skill players have, but for kickers only and by their exploits.

Here's Graham Gano's HS bio who's the Panthers current kicker:

"Graduated from Tate High School in 2005...an All-America First-Team selection by USA Today...a three-star player and the nation's third ranked kicker by Rivals.com...played in the CaliFlorida All-Star game and kicked a 50-yard field goal in the game...kicked a state record 65-yard field goal as a senior...during his senior season he kicked three field goals over 55 yards (57, 64 and 65 yards) and had a 67-yard made field goal negated by a penalty...36 of his 38 kickoffs were touchbacks and he averaged better than 42 yards per punt as a senior...his high school coach, Charlie Armstrong, is the son of Florida State's first ever baseball coach ...selected Florida State over Florida, UCF and Southern Miss."

Mofo's are kicking 60 yarders in high school. They get noticed. The big issue for kicker is can you transition from kicking field goals off a tee in high school to grass/turf in college?

Long snappers are usually preferred walk-ons. Coaching staffs enlist recruiting services (not like rivals or 247) to help them identify players; so if you're a great long snapper you'll be known too. You might earn a scholly eventually. Otherwise, you need to be a long snapping prodigy. I'm pretty sure the kid FSU has right now at long snapper was given a scholarship out of high school, and I don't ever recall a bad snap from him.
