I thought the division record only matters in the event of a tie between two teams in the same division.

They sayin....if a team wins the division say 8-8...another team in the same division finishes 9-7. The 8-8 team is in automatically because they won the division.

I could be wrong but It sounds like you are using division in place of conference.

If those teams are in the same division then the 9-7 team wins the division and gets in. If you are talking about conference then yeah the division winner gets in regardless of record which is dumb as fukk.

Relax everyone, the cat is trying to learn.

It's best overall record wins the division. If they are tied, division record comes into play. The 4 division winners automatically make it in, and the two best overall records outside of those 4 make it as wild cards

God damn.....if I was having a debate with you I would be heated to.

Please explain to me how you think an 8-8 team could win the division over a 9-7 team.

I guess I'm just surprised you know they play 16 games.

Yeah, you're confusing "Division" and "Conference".

There are 6 playoff spots per Conference: 4 Division Winners, and 2 Wild Cards. If there's a 3rd (Wild Card) team with a better record than one of the division winners, they're SOL.

Happened in 2010, when Seattle made the playoffs going 7-9, while a couple of 10-6 teams missed out. And that could happen this year, as the NFC East is dog shyt.

Not only did they make it in at 7-9 they hosted a playoff game vs. an 11-5 squad. :snoop:
