Yup I agree, the salary cap has made things worse. People want to see the Bears, Cowboys, Eagles, NY Teams, LA Rams, Redskins, Pats. SF 49ers/Oakland. Only small market teams people want to see Are the packers and steelers.

So you want predictability then...

That devalues your product already. What you're saying is some teams are bad for business even if they're good.

Super teams like @cornercommission2k12 said, and bringing back the run game would help things immensely.

Super teams = manufactured greatness

and not for nothing, teams would love to use the run game. The problem is that offensive lines by and large suck.

I think his vision is to increase Revenue at all cost. Which is crazy because you already have enough money for everyone to be happy and you reach the point of diminishing returns.

But, Banning Group celebrations, fining players for not wearing white or black cleats, charging the government for those Army Dad surprises, All of the over punishing fukkery.

Its like Gooddell is trying to make good on the No Fun League Moniker

The minute a company thinks they have enough money, they're fukked.

Understood but thats not what Im saying.

You don't whore your product out for to grab at every available dollar when you have a product that commands top dollar as is.

You run the risk of diluting the product and which they have done.

It's true though: Look at Jacksonville and all the problems they have caused. Attendance, no team in St Louis, etc.

They do suck, because they don't develop talent well at all. Anyone in the L as good as Willie Roaf now?

Nah

Who thought the Bears would be good this year?

Other than that they have the good teams on MNF and SNF

TNF doesn't count cause everyone gets a game

That's my point. There's a reason they lean towards division games more, hoping to get at least a good rivalry out of it. Chicago vs Vikings logic isn't "this will be a good matchup between two good teams" it's "hopefully they'll get up to play each other."

Yeah but they have to get people to tune in first.

I hope y'all know this is setting us up for NFC east matchups every primetime game

No cap doesnt have to mean predictability

Baseball isn't predictable with no cap.

I understand why some (cacs) would say that but the NFL's problems are far more institutional than one guy's actions. This is clearly an attempt to dump blame on Kaep. Now...whether the NFL is behind this or whether they can be honest about what's going on is another issue. We'll see.

The problem is that the NFL is rarely an entertaining, great watch. Most prime time games are BAD and feature no star players. Who is interested in Jacksonville v Tennessee tonight?
:snoop:

The problems:

1. Bad product

Games are slow, sloppy, constantly stopped by petty flags that don't even impact the play, etc. Think about how much HIGH QUALITY entertainment the average person has at their finger tips today. A couple flicks of your finger and you have access to whatever movie or tv show you want to stream. With that in mind is it shocking that people would rather watch three eps of a show than watch a game that you know will be low scoring, have bad QB play, and be too long??

As I said they need to cut the snap count clock by 10 seconds. That alone would get rid of the lax pace most games have.

Also it's time to get rid of shytty penalties. How many times does a minor case of "hands to the face" erase a good play on the other side of the field? I'm so tired of that shyt man.

2. Over saturation

NFL football used to be an event you looked forward to. All day Sunday, and then MNF which gave you a reason to hit the bar after work or school on a week day. Two days a week. TNF is trash and throws everything off. It's bad for player health, bad for scheduling, and above all never feels like an EVENT. Therefore it devalues the product. On Thursday night I'm more likely gonna be watching a movie or show than watching football. In fact I watched 5min of the last one since I'm a Lions fan and it was a NFC North showdown (GB v CHI) but outside of that I've skipped them all except the opening TNF game.

3. No Fun League

Dunno if yall agree but I'm tired of the league turning games into some corporate super professional affair. Let guys CELEBRATE and have FUN. If it's something out of line (sexual/violent/etc) then sure fine them the day after. But let guys do their thing. And if they want to wear custom shoes or whatever let them do that too.

Don't forget Fantasy Football too. Now that a lot of states have banned it due to not being regulated a lot of people stopped watching it altogether.
The main reason the product is bad is b/c of the CBA that restricts players from spending so much valuable time actually learning their positions. The amount of horrible teams makes the shyt almost unbearable to watch.
The NFL got way too greedy and now its coming back to bite them big time. The rules have been changed in favor of the offense but even that has backfired and we're left with check down QBs. No celebrations, penalties on every play, whats a catch and not a catch, and their constant failure at handing out punishment...its just not even worth watching much anymore besides a handful of teams.
Great post. Completely agree.
