i dont know the numbers, but id bet the suicide/dementia rate for nfl athletes is on par with/or lower than the rate for the rest of the population. if the players dont care right now how their play will affect them later in life, which is what most of them say, then why the fukk does anyone else care? who am i to tell another person how they should feel about what they are putting their body through. if a guy signs a waiver saying hes ok with whatever health outcome comes along, then why does anyone else give a shyt about it? if the guy doesnt sign the waiver, tell him thanks see ya later find a real job, and someone else will sign the waiver and play. the only worry is how much the nfl loses in this current lawsuit. that is the real threat to the future of the game. its not player safety, thats a total facade the nfl is pushing through the media

Again.. i'm not necessarily riding for Goodell on this matter, BUT I never see a thread in here discussing how disgusting this class action lawsuit really is. The numbers are staggering, and if the commissioner doesn't act forcefully to change that perception, the NFL will lose too much money to be viable. It's not just the the "old" players involved -- there are a bunch of cats that retired not too long ago getting on it.

NFL cannot legislate severe injuries out of the game. You dont need to be hit in the head to get concussions. Football is a violent game, terrible injuries will happen.

yes, which is why i said the real threat is the current lawsuit. any future litigation will be rendered useless if all players who take the field sign waivers/contracts releasing the nfl from responsibility for adverse long term health effects from playing football. this initiative isnt about player safety, its about trying to curb settlements in the current lawsuit. shyt they were just seriously pushing more reg season games. they dont give a flying fukk about long term player health
