That's not even the issue IMO. It's whether the receiver stopped short or not. In addition, was he audibling out of runs earlier in the game? If so, then he's a clown.

The receiver did the right thing, the defender was ahead of the route and you are taught as a WR to cut the route short, not to mention checking out of a run, smh, this is all on Romo
