By Way of Deception, Thou Shalt Do War
A few thoughts from Steelers/Chiefs:
-Oh please spare me the Le'Veon Bell talk. Steelers moved the ball at will and scored 37 points. They barely even tried to run the ball. How do you get "Le'Veon Bell is needed" from that?
-Also, spare me the Mahomes dikk sucking at least for now. I give him credit for making all the throws, but his first read was open on damn near every play, and open immediately. The defense put up *zero resistance*. Had the Steelers not possessed the ball so much, the Chiefs could have up 60-70 points in that game. All Mahomes had to do was make the throws. He might as well had been out there in shorts for a training camp 7 on 7 practice or something. His primary read was wide open immediately on every play. Come on. He did make the throws and made them well, don't get me wrong, but let's not crown him early season MVP until he shows it against some actual resistance.
-Mike Tomlin is either seriously slipping as a head coach, or never had it. First of all, he runs the defense, and it is *trash*. And don't tell me about Shazier because the defense as a whole was still trash even when Shazier was in there. We consistently play soft zone defenses even as it gets RIPPED TO SHREDS by any QB with a pulse. We consistently run two DL's and two ILB's to play cover 2, so we can't stop the run because not enough beef up front, and can't slow down a competent passing game because ILB's cant keep up. Guys are blowing assignments *routinely* week after week, year after year. It's fukking *DISGUSTING*. Even if someone wants to make the argument that Keith Butler is running the defense, he is obviously incompetent and has been for years, so either way, it's on Tomlin to either fix the defense he runs, or replace the guy running it. We have scored 42 and 37 points in our last two home games and **LOST THEM BOTH**. Jesus Christ. And notice I haven't even mentioned the soap opera drama every week one of our best players complaining about touches, holding out, bytching about other players, etc. Or the trend of coming out flat on the road, flat against sub-.500 teams, etc etc. Y'all can feed me the "Tomlin would be snatched up quick he's one of the best coaches" line all you want, but this team wins games on TALENT ALONE. The scheme is trash, team unity trash, selfish attitude of players trash, sloppy play of team (either side of the ball is subject to it in a given week) trash, defense run by the head coach trash, inability to manage clock trash, inability to adjust defensive scheme that *clearly* doesn't work trash.. this team is SO POORLY COACHED it's a fukking miracle they win any games, but they do because they have so many players who are flat out better than the guys they are lining up against. Y'all will flame me for it but y'all can have Tomlin and his "3 playoff wins in 8 years and 2 of them should have been L's and the only decent win was against Matt Moore" ass because I'm done with him.
Okay now that that's out of my system...
-Browns much improved. They will probably win 7-8 games
-I think the Saints were a mirage last year. Everything sorta came together for them in a perfect storm, but I think their defense may have taken a step back
-I don't think we learned anything from Jags/Pats. We know Brady hates the heat, but they usually start seasons slow and they will be getting Edelman back. Their defense was terrible to start the year last year too and got better. Play that game in 3 or 4 months and it will *not* go like that, I guarantee you.
-Also not crowning the Cowboys D yet either. The Giants O line is ... really bad. Odell and Barkley together might be the most exciting duo of skill players in the league though, if the rest of the offense could get its shyt together.
-Kickers need to take their craft more seriously. Or something. They were pure shyt yesterday
-I would put that Buffalo is the worst team in the league here, but I think we learned that last week
-All Denver needs is a marginally competent stooge playing QB and the rest of the team will handle business more often than not
