I never said anything about that but for the record, Grammy aren't considered as part of the "critical acclaim" :yeshrug:
And since're talking about it, its worth mentioning only half of these nas albums (kd-magic series) are critically acclaimed. Critical acclaim is when an album receive a general score of at least 81/100
which 3 were “critically acclaimed” . I’m legit curious

Cube not being on any list is embarrassing but these are cacs so:manny:
I’m really not trying to shyt on your opinion but when was the last good Cube album that people even talked about with any sort of reverence? Lethal Injection? One of the Westside Connection albums?

True.

The lists aren't that bad. But you gotta have Cube, PE, Scarface, De La and a couple others that were missing. Their lists look like they just started listening to Hip Hop in 1999-00. That's usually when the casuals popped up, but then think they're Hip Hip historians, lol.
I think you're right about this. The NFR guys are so young, I would guess they started to really dig into Hip Hop about 10 years ago. So, even if they did their do diligence, they probably won't be able to truly appreciate early Cube, PE, Scarface, etc.

Being young doesn't mean shyt though, you have access to plenty of old school albums with ease.
They also had ATCQ on their lists.
They talked about Cube and Face a lot in their previous videos. They just don't think Cube's catalog is that good to be top 10

How you gonna say it doesn't matter? You can't talk about an album's impact to the culture if you weren't even alive when it came out.

Not an access thing. The artform has changed, if you grew up on 2010s hip hop, it may be difficult to properly rank hip hop from the late 80s/early 90s. They can appreciate the music, but there will probably be a bias to the music closer to their era when making lists.

An album's impact to the culture can still be felt years later if it was really that impactul.

Also, they made it clear quality was the main factor :unimpressed:

They're ranking the best discographies, not the most impactful discographies

I could say that about more than half they lists though. Not many had a better run than Cube 80's through mid 90's. He had what at least 3 classics that alone makes him deserving :manny:

Kd2, kd3, magic3 are the only ones that were acclaimed by critics
You see how critically acclaimed doesn’t always match real life. How could Magic 1 not be critically acclaimed. That and KD 3 were the ones people were going crazy over. But let’s roll with it. He dropped 3 critically acclaimed albums in 3 years. To an already great catalogue. Pretty incredible

Nas not being numero uno on a hip hop discography list is a disgrace

He's got the best overall hip hop album - Illmatic

He's got the best comeback album - Stillmatic

He's got the best loosies compilation album - The Lost Tapes

He's got the best old man album - Take your pick between Magic, KD2 and KD3

His catalogue of albums is unfukkwittable

This right here.

Impact is important when discussing classic albums. If you weren't around when they dropped, all you have is your opinion on whether it's dope or not. But you can hear an older album today for the first time and love it, but it could be some sh*t that nobody f*cked with back in the day and had no impact. You need to be there to experience what these albums meant when they dropped.

Also, EPMD and KRS-One should definitely be on lists for best discographies too. Their run from like '87-'95 was crazy. Solo and in the groups.
