North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
And for the record, Saban is overrated.

He went to a school rich in tradition and name recognition. That's 1/2 the battle right there.

Then you add to the fact that he picked a program in the biggest high school football region talent wise in the country.

Urban Meyer>>> Nick Saban

They both only lost one game this reguler season. BUT SOMEHOW THEY ALWAYS FIND A WAY TO KEEP BAMA IN THE TOP 5.

Alabama will ALWAY get that SEC favoritism stimulace package.

Alabama won their conference and Ohio state didn't

Breh, do you realize how bad Alabama was before Saban got there?

Tom Osborne?

In 25 years as head coach he..

Finished the season ranked in the top 10........ 18 times
Never had a losing season
Never lost more than 3 games in a season
Averaged 10 wins a season.
3 national titles
Left on top.
Program hasn't been the same since he stopped coaching.

and did it in Nebraska...Nebraska. who the fukk wants to play football in Nebraska? fukk that, who the fukk wants to live in Nebraska period? literally the only attraction there is the Huskers, he gets credit for running the same option offense that every defense knew was coming and succeeding and for getting enough talent to come to a terrible place to live just to play for the college football team.

Saban joined Alabama in 2007.

2000: 3-8
2001: 7-5
2002: 10-3
2003: 4-9
2004: 6-6
2005: 10-2
2006: 6-7

With Saban: they're 111-18 (and that's largely because he lost 6 games in his 1st season)

:damn:

Breh Alabama has been around for a LONG time.

That 92 defense alone is better than any one Saban has fielded :mjpls:

Teague was :wow:

And LSU won after Saban left.

I think it's both.

Saban is a good coach.
And Alabama is a big time program with a lot of pull and resources.

I don't think he'd be THIS dominant if he were at...say...South Carolina.

Timing is everything. Osborne won consistently over 2 era's. And he could've kept coaching and got over 300 wins but left on his own terms (with a national title I might add).

Saban didn't do shyt in the 90's at Michigan State.
Other than 1 national title at LSU he was meh the other years.

So we're really going by his time at Alabama which is too short (9 1/2 years).

plus, let's be honest tom osbourne going for two in the 1984 orange bowl and going for the W instead of playing it safe for a tie and pretty much guaranteeing a share of the national title is more ballsy than anything nick has done in his entire career...that ain't even hate it's just true.

you got nick crying about players transferring while tom was playing to win and lost a national title on a 2-point conversion attempt, fukka tie. :salute:

nick is at a school that you barely even have to recruit to, its legacy, location and conference affilation sells itself. shyt is akin to UNC in college b-ball, all you gotta do it throw out an offer and most kids are already leaning towards your school. you don't get any credit for that, you better win a title or be in contention every single year with all the recruiting advantages you got, in order to impress me...

I'd argue that the 2011 defense was just as good if not better, not a big deal though, still two of the best defenses ever.

Anyway, I'm talking about that 10 year period from Stallings' retirement to Saban's hiring, I mean the program was a mess, on and off the field. Outside of '99, the DuBose era was shytty, had a good 10 win season in '02 with Fran but we got hit with sanctions so we couldn't go anywhere. '03 comes around and we get Mike Price and think he's gonna turn it around but he didn't know how to act in strip clubs so he gets canned before the season started and we get Shula, he goes 4-9 the first year and was pretty bad outside of the '05 season (another underrated defense). Finally after the '06 season, Moore realized enough is enough and got the best coach at that time which was Saban.

That 2000 season was one of the most mind blowing collapses from a preseason top 10 team that i've seen in my time watching CFB.

Yep, we got blown out by UCLA, got shutout by Southern Miss, lost to UCF, and lost 9-0 in a Sleet Storm against Auburn :francis: Pretty epic collapse from pre-season #3 team

So what happened? why did they collapse like that? Injuries? Bad coaching?
