Nicki Minaj Talks Engagement Rumors and Keeping Relationship With Meek Mill Private: 'You Know What? I'm Single'



Nicki Minaj has spilled the beans on her "engagement" ring.

In her appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, airing Thursday, the 33-year-old rap star gushed about her two diamond rings – but says wedding bells may not be in her near future.

"First of all, that's not an engagement ring," Minaj tells host Ellen DeGeneres, who asked about the jewelry. "I have two rings from this boy that likes me … and he said that that's my second ring and that if I get a third ring that that would be the engagement ring."

Minaj, who is dating rapper Meek Mill, says she's still in the beginning stages of her relationship, and isn't sure about marriage just yet.

"I don't know. We're still figuring each other out. And, in fact, I don't even want to say I'm in a relationship anymore," the "Feelin' Myself" rapper tells DeGeneres. "I think when people hear that they go to, like, the mean place.

"Well, you know, I used to say, 'I'm not in a relationship' even though I was in a 12-year relationship. And then now I feel like just going back to that and saying, 'you know what? I'm single.' "

The megastar recalls spending Valentine's Day with her beau, and getting negative messages from fans questioning their relationship when the rapper didn't post photos of her Valentine's Day gifts online.

"Meanwhile we were really in bed all day on Valentine's Day … and then I got up and opened these three amazing gifts," she says.

"It just made me realize that no matter how great your life is you can't even impress people. You just have to do you and make yourself happy."

With that, she declared that she just wants to call herself "single" to avoid all the relationship speculation.

So, she says, she avoids words like "engaged" and "relationship."

She adds: "There's a boy that likes me. That's all."

She also addressed the engagement rumors in her April cover story for Nylon.

"I'm not engaged yet. He said that my third ring would be my engagement ring," she said of Mill. "But sometimes he calls me his fiancée, and I'm always trying yo stop him, like, 'Nope! I ain't got that third ring yet!' "
