You're kind of missing it a bit. The victim didn't want the attention or to be involved at all. Basically Nicki poked a sleeping bear. They didn't need to offer any money and if he would have just registered this wouldn't be a story still. Basically it was a chain reaction of events. He failed to register as a sex offender in Cali. That then hit headlines. Then in Nicki or whoever's bright mind they then started harassing the victim to go to the courts and media and recant the rape. Nicki called her and offered her money and a chance to meet, victim said no. Then one of Petty's associates physically ran down on the victim's daughter in Atlanta. The victim got scared and moved from Atl to Florida. This was over the last year or so. It was after that the victim then went to the media and is now suing. If they would have never bothered the girl in the first place this wouldn't be a thing.

nah the article i read says she also has a claim for the sexual assault itself. she was gonna have to pay with or without the alleged harrasment. so more than likely they were trying to end that claim and this happened
