I don't know if he's wrong. I've heard very odd stories from friends of mine who are from Nigeria. I guess it does make sense since their home was colonized. So I guess it's like Native Americans right?

I think this may be mistranslated and he means race conscious or pride in our ethnicity because the Nigerians I know outside of that topic are very prideful. Smart too. They will hype up being Nigerians and among themselves I have seen them show appreciation for being in a particular tribe, and they always appreciate when I ask them their tribe. If anything another question is do they see themselves as a member of the black race or is their tribe & country how they base their self identity.
I would love an intelligent non click bait discussion on these topics with some survey data to back up the conclusions people give.

He’s right. Africans (no matter what part of the continent they’re from) will sit up and allow white people to insult them to their faces, but them clowns always have something to say when it comes to Black Americans.

A person could say, "all Black people are monkeys" in one breath, but as long as he says, "Jesus" in another breath, he'll be embraced by many Nigerians, no questions asked.
African Americans have self-esteem, unlike many Nigerians, so they don't tolerate such insults.

AAs descend from those whose labor was forcefully extracted for huge profit, received no compensation, were humiliated, subjugated & heinously harmed. Even till this day. Nigerians either don't know this or don't care. They just want to share in the white man's "heaven on earth".

It's complicated. It's not a lack of self-esteem, it is a hatred for one's self due in part to hatred for someone from that group/someone who looks like them based on the idea that the person that is making the observation is somehow the exception. So a sense of over-inflated exceptionalism mixed with a hatred for people like the person due in part to a hatred for the ruling class from that group who they feel is responsible for all their problems. Instead of focusing it on those people, and understanding that the problem comes from the system that has been created, it is easier just to point to things like self-esteem.
To put it simply, instead of self-esteem, it's what happens when your anger and hatred clouds your common sense. And the anger comes from the state of things. The other aspect is lack of education and overall ignorance but that's a given with most groups.
