The Nigerian government is currently trying to curb the importation of goods, which they say is too high and damaging the country. ‘Nigeria is a nation of importers. toothpick every year costs us 18 million dollars; tomato paste costs us 400 million dollars,’ Mr Ogbeh said. ‘Meanwhile, a basket of tomatoes is less than n2,000. The farmers are losing money because the processors do not have enough funds to set up factories.

Sounds like room for opportunity to make a killing. I'm sure someone with the entrepreneurial spirit read that article and went :shaq:. Nigerians want pizza, someone will capitalize.

I get what the government is doing, but they often fail to offer a pathway for an alternative.

The reason people are importing tomato sauce is because there are no manufacturers that can meet the domestic demand and turn tomatoes into sauce because the energy infrastructure is sub-standard and you can't (or at least it's hard to) turn a profit in manufacturing.

I have a simple rule: do not invest in countries with questionable rules and laws.

If Nigerians are having a hard time setting up a factory what hurdles would an immigrant face?

Did a Nigerian take ur girl.

Why the hate

Nah, I don't hate them..

Just going by popular opinion Ive heard from various Africans..Plus a Nigerian friend told me to never ever in my life trust or believe a Nigerian..and for good measure to ensure the message had sunk in, he said I should'nt trust him as well though we are close.
So :manny:

@Kitsch - He says they're using their cell phones to get the pizza and going to the airport to pick it up....he's talking about them ordering it....also, its probably not expensive enough that only the wealthy vs the rich can afford it....

So it's not as easy as just opening a pizza chain.
Somebody has to opening a Coal Energy Plant or a Nuclear Power Plant, and provide afforable energy to factories to produce food product.
Basically requires billions of dollars of investment. Just for a decent slice of pizza. :picard:

I honestly didn't even think of this, i take shyt for granted.
